Picks for Phoenix!!!
It feels weird to be talking about Phoenix in late February, but here we are. The season shakeup means we head out for the diamond in the desert. I want to try to make it a habit for myself to rmeind everyone at the beginning of each week of one of the rules, to make sure we're up to date... remember as you make your picks, if one of your picks receives a points penalty, you will receive a penalty as well
Anyways, here are the standings going in:
1) Nocturnx -85
2) JuniorCar -82
3) BocaReject -78
4) carlm54sl -74
5) odessadude -73
6) lougreen03 -73
7) RocknSS -71
8) KidSpace -62
9) Cowboy6622 - 52
10_dustybird3 - 34
11) zjerry -33
12_montecarlo3831 -33
13) 77GP - 29
And once again, congratulations to Nocturnx for winning the Daytona 500!!!
So make your three (3) picks here guys. Being this early in the season and not knowing what everyones got this year, I'm going to wait until a couple of practice sessions are in and qualifying is done to make my picks for this week. However, I will give you a little commentary.
Last year, Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano were looking good on the flat tracks, such as here, New Hampshire, Martinsville, Richmond.... I'm definitly looking at those two. Matt Kenseth has been decent, and I think he's going to be reved to go out there since his new daughter was just born this morning (Tuesday) Plus, remmeber that Carl Edwards won this track late last year. Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin run well here.... Jeff Gordon was a near miss in this race last year as well!!!
So those are my thoughts going in.. I'll give my final picks once the practice speeds are in.

I'm going to post this here because some of you guys are ready to put the 500 thread to pasture. But I think a lot of you, especially Junior Car, will be interested to see NASCAR's screwy call on David Regan as called by Jimmy Spencer:

Duane, is there any way we can have a "mulligan" to maybe throw out a bad week of picks? Maybe something to consider, I know Daytona killed a bunch of us on points...
Maybe we could make a poll for it....

that is cool, i mean if you look at the video yea they did move but i think what nascar did was called it because he moved the lane down infront of cars, i think that was the rule is meant for
and plus that justin bieber thing on the board, annoyed me

well NASCAR needs to be more clear abotu what situations they will call a black flag on a driver then. And I don't think we're going to be throwing out points for races for mulligans... the real guys can't do that

Carl Edwards said finishing second in the Daytona 500 is worse than any other position. But considering he leads the points, the sting isn't too bad. More Head2Head: Flaw in the new points system?
