It's almost over...

Homestead feels like the last day of school. Your tongue is hanging out, it's been a long year, but the season is almost over and you can relax ,take a breath, relax... almost time to enjoy the holidays.

Maybe it's not that way for you, but I'm dragging through doing this math here lately... so to me, not having to do points again until February is a reward!

I know some of you won't check in over the winter... so to you, I say thank you for participating, I wish you the best of luck, and I look forward to seeing all of you and and a friend when we return for Daytona in February to run the 2014 season.

Points and Congratulatory Remarks

Devin (MnteCrloSS47) is putting the pressure on me by winning at Phoenix! An impressive 1-2-3 finish (possibily the first time that has happened all year) won Phoenix for Devin....

The overall lead is held by a stout 112 points by myself going into the last race of the year.

The segment lead has a considerable 23 point advantage going into Homestead, held by butch049.

This Week at Homestead

For a couple of years, I had said that you should pick whoever is running for the title.... becuase in 2011, Edwards and Stewart ran 1-2 pretty mcuh everywehre. But last year, Keselowski and Johnson both fumbled... and we saw the 20 team fall part in Phoenix while the 48 ran well. I'm thinking the 48 may run well this week, but I don't see him taking any major chances or anything either.

Whiel the 20 has to dominate and win this race, I wonder if the pressure will get to them too. Jason Radcliffe seemed like he had been out in the desert too long the other day.

Also, Homestead is a track with graduated banking.... making it sort of like a Kansas or maybe a LAs Vegas, but the straightaway here alters your entry to 1 and 3 quite a bit compared to those tri ovals too...

HENDRICK

Jeff Gordon has a lot of top 5's and top 10's here, with only a couple of bad finishes at all. He got the win last year, and is running well in these last races here... plus, he tested..

Jimmie Johnson has never had to run to win here, and seems to have had some bad luck over the years here too. Last year, he was about to dominate and win this race... adn a couple years earlier, he ran 2nd ot Carl Edwards while trying to secure teh 2010 championship.

Dale Jr scored his first top 10 finish at Homestead last year... with a 10th place run.

Kasey Kahne is great on these tracsk... but he has wrecked a lot of cars this year. and he has a few top 5's here.

Childress Racing

Harvick has an average finish of 7.92 here... lots of top 10's at this track. Will Kevin win one more with Childress, kind of like how Stewart won with a crew chief who was leaving?

The other Childress cars... meh.

Furniture Row

Kurt Busch is good at falling apart at this last race of the year.... remmeber how he got fired at Penske

Stewart Haas

Newman might secure a 12th place run.... Danica will probably crash... Martin is just logging laps...

TOYOTA TEAMS

Gibbs
Kenseth has a win here in 07 and ran 18th last year... htat doesn't sound like championship winning numbers..... but, he has been among the best at 1.5's all year.... until August... so I don't see myself picking MatT Kenseth, stick a fork in him!

Kyle Busch is usually in survival mode when he gets to Homestead.. but ran 4th last year, 8th a few years back...

Hamster won this race once... but he just needs the year to be over too.

Michael Waltrip Racing

Clint Bowyer has run 2nd and 6th here in the last couple of years... so he is alright here. But the MWR guys have cheated, so what do you do?

Truex is on the way out... Sadler is his old self...

FORD TEAMS

Roush

Edwards has a great record here... 12th last year was his worst finish since 2004!!!! He's won twice, and loves this track too!

Biffle has been hit and miss, but won this race 3 years in a row 04-06.

Stenhouse might do okay piggy backing off hte others...

Petty

Aric Almirola has a 4th and a 7th here..... in 2010 and 2012. this guy is decent on 1.5s and good at Homestead. I'm looking at him....

Ambrose was unlucky 13 here...

Penske

Brad K doesn't have a single top 10 here....

Neither does Joey Logano....
