Official 2011 Daytona 500 "MEMBER's Picks"

Somebody had to start the thread...

Junior got the pole! 2 Hendricks cars on the front row! 8 Chev's qualified in the top 10! Not one Toyota qualified in the top 20!

So I guess we got 2 more races to make picks that don't count: Thursdays Gatorade Duels. I don't expect Junior to win that one cuz he doesn't need too....

I'm not ready to make picks...
yes I am...

For the Daytona 500 I call it pretty much the same

I'm going to wait and see how the duels go before I make a call on this one. I'm staying away from Jimmie Johnson though. He may pull it off, but it seems like the Daytona 500 is that hope for all of us who hate Jimmie to watch him suffer in agony. Last year the pothole got him... he's blown engines, gets tied up in wrecks.. and by his own admission, he isn't the greatest restricter plate racer. I'm looking at RCR for my picks though, the Chevrolets still have the super speedways figured out!

Jimmie is no more unlucky then anyone else there. No one is immune to Daytona's bad luck. I'd stay away from Harvick - Daytona has been very kind to him, which only means his number is up!

Hmmm... not many people picking this early on. Maybe we should change the title to have the word "Picks" in it?

Man, I might have to make another thread or something... where is everyone at!?!?!?!?! We had all kinds of people turning out for the Shootout and nothing here!!! Given, it is Wednesday....

Hopefully they will chime in, especially after tomorrows races. We still have 3 1/2 days

THE MOST F'ED UP CALL IN NASCAR EVER!!!!!

Anybody hear that Jr. wrecked in practice?!? It happened, but the rules are soooo screwed here! This is hard to follow. He was actually wrecked by Truex, and now it is guaranteed that Truex will start ahead of him!

According to the rules, Junior is locked into the Daytona 500 because he got the pole. Big deal - everyone in the top 35 from last year is locked in. It also mean nothing he does in the Duels matters. Because he now goes to a back-up car, he must take the rear of the field in the Duels and the 500. Truex will start the rear of the field in the Duels, but he can improve his position (or designate it in the first place) by his Duel finish. It doesn't matter if Junior wins the Duel, he starts last in the 500 - only because he won the pole. Who ever finishes 3rd in the first Duel actually lead the field in the Daytona 500 - even if it is Truex! But not if it is Junior!

Those rules are screwed, but Junior is now guaranteed last starting spot. And he is forced to an unpracticed back-up car. He has really been forced against the wall in an unprecedented fashion. Complete BS. That makes this forthcoming victory by Junior the greatest Daytona 500 victory ever....
