NASCAR "says" they'll work on the side skirt issue.

O'Donnell: NASCAR to address side skirt issue

No one wants to say what they're doing, but I've got two solutions to offer...

One - all pit stops are monitored by camera and officials (rumor even that they will do away with over the wall officials next year and do this with cameras, and have an official monitor that camera and the playback). Just say "Hey, don't pull the side skirt - if you do, we will black flag you and you will have to come down pit road fix, fix the car to our satisfaction, and go one lap down."

Two - mandate a brace bolted to the end of the side skirt that connects to the frame. Won't be heavy, or obstructive, and it will work. Some teams took 2-3 stops to get that skirt where they wanted it.... a minor brace in the right spot would be teh end of it.

Both solution work. They could do both! It seems pretty simple, doesn't it? Why does NASCAR think this, of all things, is complicated? They manage to micro-manage everything else...

You got that Goonyer Call Can Coozie shrine built yet? Any plans to buy the Dale Goonyer Martinsville win diecast to accompany it?

I haven't built the Martinsville coozie shrine yet and probably won't until after Christmas. I recently ordered mount plaques with tire pieces commemorating the Daytona win (because we name our second daughter after that) and the first Pocono win (because it happened the day she was born). The idea will be to build something like that, but instead of a piece of race winning tire, I got the coozie (plus it's certificate of authenticity and your photos). I'm not likely to spring for the diecast because it's pricey, plus it looks essentially the same as the autographed National Guard car wifey got me for my birthday

Let me know if you need the higher resolution versions of those photos.
