Kasey Kahne starts from the pole in today's CARFAX 400 at MIS.
Kasey Kahne will lead the field to the green flag today as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rolls off at Michigan International Speedway.
MRN Radio – “The Voice of NASCAR” – will have live coverage of the CARFAX 400 starting at 12 p.m. (EDT).
Kahne led Friday’s qualifying on the two-mile oval with a lap of 187.183 miles per hour, earning his second pole of the season. The first came in June at Infineon Raceway. Kahne will share the front row with Jimmie Johnson, who was second-quick at 187.086 mph.
Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya complete the Top Five. Sprint Cup Series points leader Kevin Harvick will start eighth.

Not big news to a lot of people, but I thought it was nuts that PRISM driver Dave Blaney was replaced by Scott Riggs in the 66 car. Why do you fire a start-and-park driver who always qualifies? Wasn't he getting to the garage fast enough for them? Dave Blaney has been exceptional at qualifying for that team with such little potential. Last year at Bristol (when I was there) he qualified 4th! Not surprising to me, in Riggs first effort this weekend at MIS he qualified dead last and missed the race.
I used to go to all the MIS races since it is only a few hours from here - by far the closest to home. But the races are boring. Hardly any cars will finish on the lead lap and there will be no race to the line the fastest will win. But I'm really hoping Martin can keep 12th place over Clint Bowyer...
1. Kasey Kahne
2. Carl Edwards
3. Mark Martin
last: Michael MacDowell
# of cautions: 6
first caution causer: Sam Hornish
Bonus pick:
# of cars on the lead lap at the race end: 11

At lap 32 Kurt Busch blows an engine real good and brings out the first caution. Papi and macDowell have already parked, but Nemechek beat them and gets the last. Both Robbie Gordon cars have been off track, but have returned to racing (14 laps down).
