Daytona 500 Qualif: Johnson on top
[:-]
Qualifying for next Sunday's 50th running of the Daytona 500 locked in the top two spots for the race. Jimmie Johnson is the 2008 pole sitter, picking up right where he left off last season. Jimmie's speed of 187.08mph topped the rest of the field, and is his second career pole for this race. Johnson sat on the 2002 Daytona 500 pole as a rookie if you remember. In the second spot is the #55 of Michael Waltrip, which is one huge turnaround from last year. Last year Waltrip's team was shrouded in controversy, with confiscated parts, use of jet fuel additive, suspended crew chiefs and the like. Here is how the top 10 stacks up.

Hendrick changes all engines
Feb 13, 2008 at 05:14 PM
Hendrick Motorsports is changing all of their engines after practice on Wednesday. The team is reporting lifter failure in those engines, and includes the cars for Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Casey Mears. This also affects a leased engine in Scott Riggs machine. All of these cars will start the Gatorade Duels in the back of the pack. This does not affect the lineup for Sunday's race, as all teams are allowed to change engines after the Duels.
Jeff Andrews, head engine builder for Hendrick said "It's a concern, naturally, because it's a widespread problem, but it's early enough that we can fix it."
Jimmie Johnson's crew chief Chad Knaus said "It wouldn't have lasted the 150s, and you don't want to risk it blowing up and starting an accident that would have taken other cars out."

RE: NASCAR 2008 MCF
As much as I want to say Jimmy J on this one I feel 3 out of 4 of the Hendricks cars will be involved in some kind of incident. Having said that I will go with. These COTs are so unpredictable on these high speed tracks and some of the younger guys (and Tony Stewart)will end up taking out some high quality drivers.
