Default Would doing the following kick a code?

I want to replace the oil fill cap with a cute little chrome breather ... I see they are sold on some WWWs like 3800, etc., but I am positive I have read somewhere in this forum that it is likely to kick a code, but I will be damned if I can find the info when I need it, or want to quote it.

Chances?

Don't bother. Those are only for people who have disabled their PCV systems and need to vent their crankcase.

Some people try to cork and plug it. But honestly, if that fails and something falls in, NOT WORTH IT. You can find a chrome cap if you want to jazz it up a little, but don't get a breather.

In my case I have one laying around ... brand new, & obviously looks tons better, & a way of absolutely securing it.

Anyhow, I suppose if it kicks one, I strap the OBD on & go back to the cap, etc.

I still think it's pretty pointless to put a non-functioning thing on :p

I agree with Chibi, dress it up with a chrome cap (about $20 I think shipped off eBay). You can also contact some companies that make overlays for them and have something custom on the center. One company is www.reflectiveconcepts.com.
Here's a link to one of their Pontiac oil cap overlays:
Oil Cap Overlay Decal

And here's my engine with a chrome cap and polished 3800 F-Body aluminum valve covers.

I promise, I promise, I promise!!! I am NOT trying to give you guys a hard sell on this, nor even a sell to myself, but this is what I have, & am referring to:

62-1490 - K&N Crankcase Vent Filters, Vent Filter

Obviously there is chrome there (as someone mentioned a chrome cap, etc.), & I looked at it as a fantastic accompaniment to the K&N CAI I have coming my way in a few days ...

Being 1,000% non-functioning is absolutely true, no doubt. I was just thinkin' shiny, & matchin'.

Anyhow, I LOVE what ReflectiveConcepts.com has to offer!!! Wow, ... I can get lost in there for days, as I am sure more than a few have ...

Again, just ideas that have flowed through my head ... got 90 or so days before I can start diggin' it out, & lower the lift & start the the re-assembling process! I am sure I will have 40 more hair-brained ideas. If I pass them by here, promise NOT to hold them against me?!?!?!

By putting that breather on there, you have successfully introduced a vacuum leak to the crankcase

I knew what the breather was, I'd still not bother with it.
