Where does this go?

I am getting the Monte put back together after an engine fire. I got the intake on, but I cant figure out where this wire plugs into. I don't remember unplugging it. It is on the back of the engine, passenger side, near the alternator. The alternator has the large red wire attached and 1 plug attached so I think it is on. The injectors are not in yet, but I know it is not an injector plug. Is it one of those plugs that does not go to anything? I cant find any sensors or other wires to plug into.
Here are a couple of pictures to try to help identify what I am talking about.

One more edit to the pictures to help show the plug I am talking about.

I believe it's not used but not 100%

I am thinking the same thing but I have attached a few photo's of the engine compartment maybe there is something you will recognize.
I have service manuals but they are not with me and I travel a lot.

I kind of think it is not used. The only things I can see in the pictures that might apply are the camshaft position sensor, the oil pressure or the heated o2 sensor, but the wire to the plug is too short to reach down the engine block. The lead is only about 3 inches long.
I do not remember unplugging it, and there are no sensors in that area that it could plug into. It is possible it plugged into another wire lead, but if that were the case I would have wedged the other wire somewhere so I could find it.
The biggest problem is this is the car that had the intake manifold explode resulting in a small engine fire. The intake came off in 20 pieces, and I pulled the wires out as far as I could to inspect for damage. The end of the plug is a little dirty and does have some of the yellow stuff from the fire extinguisher on it, but that could just mean it was rubbed and moved around in the dirt.

It's not used. I remember coming across that on my 02 Grand Prix 3800 series II na. I guess they used a lot of the same harnesses across the w-body line. It's gone in the 04 GP series III na.

I think there's another 'loose' connection around the coolant reservoir. Might even be more.

Hope you get the car back together and running well.

I went back to the junk yard today to get the right injectors for the car. I checked on 2 other 2000 Montes and both had the same plug that was obviously not used, covered in grease dirt and oil. I checked some Impalas and they had the same plug laying there not used. I also checked some Pontiacs, same thing, so yeah I agree it is not used.
I didn't figure it was, usually I remember what I unplug and where it goes. BUT after the fire some things got confusing.

I believe that plug is for the California emissions AIR pump system.

I believe the same thing, I would have to check my Monte to see if the plug is plugged into that stupid air pump.

I'll try to remember to uncover and pop the hood tonight and check.

Thanks everyone for the information. After the responses here, and checking 3 or 4 cars at the scrap yard I am confident that it is not used in this particular car. I didn't think I unplugged that plug, but with the mess that the fire left I could not be certain.

I got it running today! It has a miss, code P0303. Cant be too hard to figure that one out.
