Is this a Wheel Bearing Problem?

I Drive a 2001 Monte Carlo SS - 169 000 Km Roughly.

I have owned this car for about a year with no major repairs. I have kept on the usual maintenance. Oil changes...ect.. I noticed that when I drive I hear a humming noise.. Many people told me it sounds like the Wheel bearing. The noise can be heard at speeds about 40 KM.. Also when I'm driving at about 80KM and I'm turning on a right bend the noise will completely go away until I'm driving straight again. I think Its the right rear bearing going out.. any ideas? Thanks.

RE: Is this a Wheel Bearing Problem?

yeah it sounds like a wheel bearing. i have fixed ahandfulof these and their not too bad (not on my car). does your car shake a little when braking? that could be another symptom. jack the car up til the tire is off the ground. then try topush and pullthe wheel laterally (or from driver to passenger side etc.). if there is some play in the wheel, then the bearing is bad or going bad. don't put off fixing it for too long, you don't want to get stranded if it overheats and fails for good. if you need more advice on how to fix it, let me know
