Default What is the I/O button next to headlight switch?

Sorry for dumb question. Cannot find this button in the owner's manual. Located just right of the head light switch Just noticed it and can't tell what it does. Positions are I and O. Thanks

This is a dashboard button on 2004 Monte Carlo. For some reason it is not listed in the owner's manual.

I think you're referring to the Fog Light switch?

The fog light switch says FOG though and is a push button.

This is probably an aftermarket switch added to a spot that was convenient.

Not fog lamps. Could it be traction control? But nothing says traction?

Y, it is an odd switch which doesn't appear on any year Monte Carlo owner's manual, and located right where a Fog light switch should be. However, we don't have fog lights. It toggles to either I or O position. We bought the car New in 2004, so it's original equipment of some type.

Take a picture and post it. I really feel like it's something aftermarket. It's not tough to add a switch of some sort.

Question

Well have you tried turning it on and off when you are inside at night to see if it operates anything? Maybe it will shut off the dome lights or lock them off.
Sometimes there is a feature like that on GM Cars I had a Chevy Cruze a few months back that was a rental that did that.

Sounds like aftermarket, I/O would be on/off for something

In the fog lamp area I wonder if it was a Undercover car that had the Lights Out Feature that can be found on the Impala 9C1 and 9C3? Maybe that car was going to be used for NARC Car and was sold before it was released in fleet?

Does your car have some Wire Drops under the Carpet in the Passenger side, and in the trunk is there 2 Power points that would be powered with 8awg wire?

I don't know sorry without seeing and running out the wiring to find what it goes to I can only guess. I know with the Impala they had Base looking models with LS motor and loads of extra wiring areas, Some for the lights on the roof, some wires for all the hardware in the center of the car, extra 50amp x2 ports in the trunk.

Would be cool to hear there was such a car in the MC side. If I had it, Wouldn't leave me.
