Default Vibration in Stearing wheel and front end.

I have a 1997 Monte Carlo LS that has developed a vibration in the steering wheel and the front end of the car. I notice it has it at speeds above 45 mph, and also at an idle. The steering wheel also vibrates when you hit the brakes. I was wondering if anyone could give me some specific areas to check to try and correct the issues. Thank you for your help.

Have you done any kind of work to the car lately? Replaced any of the tires, brakes... Have you "curbed" the car?

Yes i have replaced the front brakes, however i did not do the discs, and i was going to try getting an alignment, and a tire balance done on the front end, but i was just wondering if there were any other specific problems or areas that i could inspect. No i don't believe that i ran into any curbs so i doubt the rims could be bent.

does it only happen while braking? if so, you need new rotors, very common problem!

did you torque your lug nut evenly? very common if you just put them on that your warping your rotor causing vibrations while breaking. always torque all lugs to the same spec. while idleing has to be shaking of the engine, missfire maybe?

This is a problem of your break. You can contact to your car dealer or that person whom you have changed your break.

i had a similar problem with mine. between 50 and 60 mph my steering wheel would vibrate pretty bad. the problem was that my tires needed to be balanced. i ended up buying new tires also because i needed them badly. with new tires and a balance fixed the problem. no more vibration

but if your steering wheel is vibrating while your braking you prob need new rotors like they said above.

good luck

vibration comes from rear rotors, reach up and feel the backside of rear rotors i guarantee its all goofed up. it happens because of the e-brake, everytime you push on that it will re adjust the rear brakes and cause it to squeeze more then needed.
