Default Turn Signals

On my 02 SS, I am starting to have a weird issue. I can be driving and go to turn on the turn signal and nothing happends. Most of the time the signals work fine, but then they can just stop. This is on both left and right when it happends. If I hit the hazard light switch they are still working. if I pull the car over and turn it off and then back on they seem to start working. This is very frusterating, and I am not sure where to go with it. I thought relay, but if that were so I am not sure the hazard would work. I also thought it could be the switch. Any ideas??????

Chances are that the multifunction switch is starting to go

Possibly not the multifunction switch and possibly a wire to the hazard switch too.

I have the same issue, just hit the hazards real quick and my turn signals work again lol

Had the same problem. First thought it was the multifunction switch and replaced it (Pain in the butt), then found the real problem was the hazard switch. $20 part, 30 minute job. I would put money on this being the problem.

I had to replace my switch a long time ago and it helped it for a little while, ive also heard of the hazard switch catching fire from loose wires or such, they are both pretty easy to change so it wouldn't really hurt upgrading while your messing with it

Thanks for all the advice. I would have never thought about the Hazard switch since the Hazards were working. I will check into that this weekend.

Yah it is a bit confusing, that's why I replaced the multifunction first. It seems the turn signal flasher unit is built into the hazard switch. I had the exact same symptoms, hit the hazard and problem cleared up for a little while. Absolutely no disrespect to other suggestions, but the hazard switch is about $25 and the only tool needed is a 7mm socket or nut driver to remove the dash panel. The multifunction switch is about $125 for a good one and requires a special driver bit to remove the screw holding the MFS in the lower steering column cover. The choice is yours.
