spam?

Hello everyone, Ive had my 03 SS for a couple of years now. And today, I received a post card in the mail stating that there is a recall. " As a valued chevrolet owner, we want to let you know that GM is committed to quality products and customer satisfaction. According to our records, as of August 2012, service has not been completed on the following recall(s) for your monte carlo: 09047 Engine compartment fire."

Is this spam? or is it real?? this postcard I got is not from the dealer I bought it from....

Yeah it's real. I used to have an 03 SS and took it in about three years ago for that recall. Maybe the previous owner of yours never took it in to have the work done when they got the initial recall notice. Recall notices will usually come straight from General Motors, not the dealership you bought the car from.

Yep it's real - I got one for my 03 years ago - glad they found you so you can get it taken care of

Yes it was something to do with the clips that hold/route the spark plug wires. I had mine done not long ago.

had the same kind of recall on 1999 Z-34...
a few years ago...

This might help a bit. I found it on google. LINK http://www.phila.gov/fleet/Warranty%...ll%2009047.pdf

Condition
General Motors has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain
1997-2003 model year Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix, 1998-1999 model year Chevrolet
Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1998-2003 model year Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2000-2003
model year Chevrolet Impala model vehicles, equipped with a 3.8L V6 naturally aspirated engine
(RPO L36 - VIN K). Some of these vehicles have a condition in which drops of engine oil may be
deposited on the exhaust manifold through hard braking. In rare cases, if this condition occurs, and
if a hot surface ignition source were present, an engine compartment fire could occur.
Correction
Dealers are to remove the 1-3-5 spark plug wire retention channel at the front of engine and
replace it with new retainers

Definitely not spam. There's a thread about this stickied in the General Monte Carlo Talk section of the forum containing some links to info about the recall.
