Signals

2002 monte. Turn signal works normal with engine off. Rapid flash when engine running. Thoughts?

You have fog lights?

No, no fog lights. Is the hazard button the flasher also?

Could be the hazard switch. I know in the Impala's they did that but not sure in the Monte 's.

With engine running signals rapid flash and very dim. New flasher.

You might need a new stalk. The signal, wiper stalk is all in one and some times go bad and do some strange things. I would not through money at it. It is not very difficult to change. Try to wiggle it and see what happens. Hope this helps.

Bad ground wire contact

Above the driver side headlight you will see 2 black wires connected to a bolt going into the framing. I took the bolt out and wire brushed the threads on the bolt and cut the ends of the 2 black wires off and twisted them together for now and put it up against the bolt and screwed it back into the frame. Everything is fixed now turn signals working, fog lights working, no more fast blinking all is fixed. I suggest doing this before buying a new switch because it will need to be fixed later on anyways. The bolt is accessible without taking anything off. Pop the hood and it’s right above the driver side headlight you can’t miss it! These 2 black wires are the ground wires and over time they corrode from the rain and salt going into the front of the engine bay.
