Shifting problems

I have encountered a shifting problem in my Monte. When I am rolling down the road at about 55 or 60. When I step on the gas she slips (not sure through what RPM cause I have no Tach). But when I let off the gas and smash it again it shifts. But sometimes it never slips when going into passing gear, the dipstick is actually over full (when my friend ditched her and my mom and brother went to pick up the car it would not move in drive so they added 2 quarts of tranny fluid) Now could it be from being over full or the fluid is too thin or is the tranny shot to hell and back. Someone also told me that a vaccum hose could be off. And that could be causing it?? If so does anyone know where I might be able to find a digram showing what hoses go where?? I cant seem to find anything. [sm=dontgetit.gif]

Yes, it could be an over full problem, and it also can be a torque converter problem...

Converter I never thought about that, well mabey this will help narrow it down a little bit more. In the morning when I first start up. it takes like 15 min before the car will go in drive. I think the whole tranny is shot to hell. Cause when I take off at full pedal it wount shift out of 1st untill I let off the gas. I dont know I am stumpped when it comes to tranny work.
