Service Traction Control Message?

Need info from anyone about how to permanently fix the intermittent "Service Traction Control" message on my 06 LTZ. Doesn't have a particular time it does it, very intermittent, sometimes the message will come on when I rev it in park???? Any Information would be appreciated

One of the connections to a wheel hub are dirty, or the sensor INSIDE the hub is going bad. It's telling the car that one tire isn't spinning when it is, car activates traction control, does nothing, car assumes traction control is bad.

Do a few searches on Wheel Hub Assembly and you'll see all your information :)

i did do some research when I first saw the message pop up. If its dirty, how does one clean it? I'm more hands on but I've never messed with hubs on any of my previous cars. If its broken, the sensor is built into the hub correct? I'm not too hyped on spending 200-300 to replace the entire hub just for the one sensor. Thanks for your responses.

EDIT

I Say 200-300 because I would replace both considering I have almost 110k miles on it. just finicky like that :)

Here is a link I found to clean the BAS traction control sensors. It's pretty easy really.

And here is one on replacing the hub assembly w / ABS Traction control sensors. A whole picture slide show. Not a big deal and saves you a fair amount of money by being the hands on type you are. Good luck, Nice 06 Monte......:)

If you look at the back side of the hubs you will see a wire that connects to the sensor. Remove the plug and clean the sensor and connector with electronic parts cleaner. When reinstalling the wire make sure the connection is tight. Also check the wire for chaffing/exposed wire that might be making contact with the suspension. Repair any bare wire with self-vulcanizing tape.

Many thanks to all three of you for the information! Ill at least be cleaning the sensors off when I findthe time, being the busy college student that i am  then after that, might go out and squeal the tires a bit to see if the light comes back on! again, thanks.
