Replacing Turn Signal Lever on 2007 Monte Carlo

Hi all,

I recently started having a problem where my high beams would turn on whenever I use the turn signal lever. Now their permanently stuck on. I found that I need to replace the entire lever using GM PART: 15289426 Turn signal switch. I figure it won't be too hard just taking off the steering column and replacing, but nothing is ever that easy. Has anyone else ever done this before? I tried searching the web for replacing steering column on the 07 Monte Carlo but I couldn't find anything detailing it exactly.

I just don't want to run into any problems and cause my air bag to deploy in my face.

Hi Mateogp
I've not done it, but the Haynes book says Disable SRS airbag system, remove steering wheel, remove column trim and two screws to remove the switch. Sounds easy - reminds me of the same process I once did on a '79 Fox body Capri that would honk the horn when turning.

Can go into more detail from the book if you need.
