Replacing Air Filter

I know it's a noob question but how do you replace the air filter in the engine compartment? (2003 Monte Carlo) If there is already a how to, just send me there but the only thing I could find was cabin filter replacing.

In my Z34 I can just pop off a couple screws and presto. I know there are 2 clamps and I can get it open enough to see the filter but not pull it out.

Do you have the 3400 or the 3800 engine?

It is just unclamping and pulling the airbox apart and installing the new though.

Sometimes removing the air hose first can help give you more room to work.

You have the right idea; it's just tight in there. With a second pair of hands, you may be able to push the cover back far enough to remove/replace the filter. Otherwise, as already mentioned, pull the air hose off first. Then the cover can be moved out of the way entirely.

It's the 3400. I kinda figured that I was going to have to unclamp the hose, I was just kinda hoping I didn't have to.

You don't HAVE to, it just makes it 200% easier.

Thank you very much for the quick response and advice.
