Reminder : Change the Super Charger Oil
 

This is just a reminder for everyone who has Supercharged 3.8 and for those newbies out there. Change your oil in the S/C.
You should do this at least twice a year or depending on how much you drive your S/C MC. I changed mine this past weekend and it needed it.
It's real easy and not expensive to do.

I changed mine once when I had it ported and put on the machined LIM. It's not hard to do but smells like hell. It does not need to be done twice a year, that is over kill. Some people say every 50k miles, some people never change it at all... it's not a big deal to change it.

Q: How often do I need to change the oil in my supercharger?
A: The sealed oil reservoir in a supercharger is designed to last the life of the vehicle. Changing the oil is not recommended unless you suspect contamination, leakage, or other issues like bearing failure. Also, if your vehicle has an abnormally heavy duty cycle, such as racing or towing, you could consider changing the oil at regular intervals such as 20k, 30k, 50k, or 100k miles depending on usage.

oil does not last the life of the car it is like saying the engine oil lasts the life of the car as well as the trans fluid as well. oil is oil it breaks down. what i am saying it is the same type like the trans fluid do it every time the trans fluid is due or when it is comfertable to do. it is a time thing and if the super charger breaks down it will take out the engine and the whole engine needs to be replaced depending on the damage if the supercharger breaks and what gets sucked in to the engine. doing it twice or more in a year is a over kill most dont put on that many miles on there supercharged monte's do to how rare they are. i dont drive my supercharged mustang gt that nuch due to it is the only one i have seen. the ss monte's i have seen are the non supercharged ones the ones supercharged i have seen at car shows they have very low miles on them due to how rare they are in my area in fl.

Twice a year is definitely overkill. I do not have the manual on me, but it is something like every 30-50,000 miles.

I'll change mine every 30,000 miles. I bought my car used so I don't have the history on the maintenance. I changed it at 60k when I bought it and will change it again at 90k miles.

I'm just quoting what was straight from Eaton who manufacturers our superchargers... It lasts the life of the car is what they say. I changed mine around 50k. It doesn't hurt to check to see how dirty the oil looks and change it if it needs changed. New supercharger oil is clear.

A mustang with a Whipple is quite different than a Mone carlo with an eaton. Supercharged Monte Carlo's are fairly common.

I changed mine when I got the motor put in earlier this year - changed a lot of stuff that first couple of weeks since I wanted a good starting point where I knew when everything was changed and what was in it. I think I paid under $10 for a fluid recovery pump - which I'll get plenty of use out of for other jobs - and bought the SC oil from my Chevy dealer. As others point out - the old fluid smells awful. Don't spill it, seal it and get rid of it. It has to do with the fats used to make the oil. Basically they get rancid from what I can tell based on the product label and that smell.
