Default What is this Shakiness?

I have a 2006 Monte Carlo with 28,000 miles. Whenever I brake on a downhill grade or in the rain I feel the whole car shake especially in the brake pedal. It doesnt do this all the time just in those conditions. At firstI suspected the rotors to be warped. I brought in my car for its annual oil change and tired rotation. I asked the mechanics to also do aninspection onthe brakes becauseI feltwas experiencing someshaking. According to them they told me that my rotors were infact warped and it was going to cost $400. After this I took my Monte back to the dealer where i bought since it still under warranty. After the dealership inspected the rotors they said that the rotors were fine. I even took the mechaninc from the dealership on a test drive to show him the problem and I couldnt get the car to start shaking.

Now what?
Who do I beleive?
Is there a differentproblem that could be lerking and it hasnt been found?

the dealership is probably lying because your warranty is just about up. it's 3 years or 30,000 miles correct?

you seem very close to both of those.

you've definitly got a warped rotor somewhere... that or the pads are down to nothing and you're metal on metal on one of those calipers (which inevitably warped it.)

The manufacturers warranty is up i think at 36,000. I bought the car with 18,000 and an extended warranty 3yr/36,000. Shouldnt the car be under warranty until 54,000? Also Ive had alot of problems with dealers not wanting to work onthe car because it is still under warranty. Anyways! I dont care if it has 35,999 minlesIts covered right?

if you still got that much of your pad you should be good for another 15,000 miles or so at that rate anyway. the pads on my body style are notorious for warping... replace them with something else after you make the chevy stealership and those go bad too.

these rotors are known to warp like crazy. especially if you have them all warmed up and they get wet...

dealerships are notorious for not helping someone out. Keep fighting it, or get second opinions and take it back. you would assume that they should help you, but sometimes it's about how you demand things. If they keep fighting you unfortunately driving on a warped rotor / bad pad will make the problem worse and then maybe they will help.

Sometimes a bad wheel cylinder will cause that too[]

i had that same condition on cars i previously owned. turned out to be either warped rotors or bad wheel bearing/hub assembly. jack the car up in the airand see if the wheels have any lateral movement. if they do, it's the bearing/hub assembly.

and if your dealer isn't helping you out. go to a different dealer or autoshop. ask around and see what places have a good reputation. good luck.
