Default Radiator fans not working?

Hey guys, quick Q & A. I don't think my cooling fans are working at all. . . . lately since its been in the upper 80's here in Missouri my car has been heating up to around 200 - 215 degree's. . .Its beginning to worry me. So I got out when it was at 215 and checked to see if my fans were on. . .well they weren't. . .so I took it to the dealership today and asked the guy what temp the fans were suppose to turn on. The tech guy said that the low speed turns on around 220, and the high speed fan turns on around 229. . .Now I'm a little hesitant to believe that because frankly. . .I think thats just to hot for a car to get before the fans cut on. Does anyone know what really is the temp they turn on?

Also, does anyone know where I can find a 180 degree thermostat for a 3400? All I can find is the OE 195 thermostat. Thanks.

Brian

Any takers on the fan situation?. . .that really is my main concern. . .the last thing I need is for my intake manifold gaskets to crack again or have engine problems from it getting so hot constantly. Thanks.

ok could be a few things, here they are and heres how to find out if thats the prob

1. fans dont work period- turn on ac should automatically turn fans on

2. CTS not working, not installed, or not hooked up.-scan the puter for free at a local parts store to see if it doesnt work. eyes will tell if it aint installed or hooked up

3. low coolant- if the level is low the CTS wont trigger the fans to come on *sometimes*

check all of this and let me know and ill go further if necessary

My Cadillac didn't turn on until 220-222.

There should be a way to make the engine temp appear on the radio or DIC.

My 03 MC SS had the same problem last year
It turned out to be that the ECM was not telling the fans to turn on.

YES I said the ECM..... The coolant sensor tells the ECM to turn them on.
The sensors were working, but the ECM went brain dead.....

Check sensors first....

Once they replaced the ECM and the body mod. (cause the body mod locked with the new ECM) the fans were coming on around 210 if I remember right

My '04 has been running almost to 250 the past few days(at least without blasting the heat)...
I'm hearing that I should check and see if the fans are coming on.
But you did mention that you took it to the dealership; did the guy actually look at it and say all was well or what?

So it ended up being the intake manifold and the water pump..Yahoo! for extended warranties!
