2002 SS wont start..help!
First, I have done some basic work on our 2002 SS such as radiator change out, water pump replacement, etc...so I like to do things myself before paying others (don't we all?) I am stumped. Stopped to get gas today and afterwards the car would not start. Battery is new. Dash lights, dome lights, headlights, etc all come on....but the car would not even crank. We have had some issues with the security light issue, but that hasn't happened in a very long time. We even did the wait 15 minutes to start so it would reset thing, but nadda. I hear/feel the crank relay clicking. I could not hear the fuel pump whining though. Car is in my garage now and I am looking for a place to start. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help anyone could provide.

FIRST THINGS FIRST...
1)Have you checked for spark at the plugs?
2)Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. (you can get/borrow a tester at any local auto parts) Possible fuel pump failure.
3)It could also be the crank sensor.
My moneys on 1 of these 3 things.
Keep us informed of your progress... Lets us know what fixed the problem.

If your Engine Will Not Crank, but you hear your fuel pump and ignition relay, and your security light is not flashing at you, I think you have a starter problem.
Question, when you turn the key to start, did you hear your starter solenoid clank in?
Does your battery voltage drop significantly?
Do all your other gauges drop to or almost to 0.
If Yes, then I think your starter is bad.
If No, then I think it's your Starter relay.
In a no crank situation the starting system is the first place I would check.

you can take a pipe or pry bar and tap the starter while someone tries to start it. if the starter is bad or froze 9/10 times it will start doing this. caution... do not ground the pos wire from the starter to the engine with the prybar... this will be shockingly bad. if you do replace the starter, i would suggest getting one from napa or the dealer. I bought a new one from autozone (new not remanufactured) and had it die within a year! and a customer from the shop i work at also had the same new starter and his died about 2-3 weeks after mine! it may cost a little more right now but doing once right the first time is worth it.

Sounds like it could be issues with the BCM. My Monte got to the point where it would not start after the glitchy security issues for a few months. Ended up being the BCM. About $500 for the part and the dealership to reprogram the new BCM.
