Rack and Pinion problems.

I posted this on another forum with no help so I am trying here :-)

I have a 97 Monte Carlo and just very recently replaced the inner tie rod on the drivers side. Before I replaced there was no leak from the rack. Now I am pretty sure it is leaking because I can see fluid drip off the tie rod boot. Did I inadvertently mess up the rack while replacing the inner rod? It did not take a lot of torque to get the old one off.

What is my course of action to fix this leak if it is the rack and what happens if I let it go for awhile?

Please help. Thanks

**** Just found out that there was a recall on 97 Monte Carlo's for "Power Steering Gear Lower Pinion Bearing Separation". If this occured, would it cause my leaking problem as stated above? Can anybody help? *****

RE: Rack and Pinion problems.
