PREVENT Maintenece List

im making a list of things that i want to repair as preventative maintenance. So far i got to change the tranny fluid, get the ABS light checked because i changed the wheel hub and its still on, get a coolant check, change sway bar and maybe get a PCM tune. I have been looking into a new thermostat and seen people mention a 180 thermostat, whats the difference and what brand did yall use? i was looking on rockauto.com

Stock is 195 so a 180 will help the engine run cooler if the PCM fan turn on points are adjusted with it. Gas mileage will suffer slightly with the 180. Any brand listed to work with the 3800 should be fine.

I may have missed something you posted elsewhere, but why are you looking for a PCM tune?
If it's for better performance, get all your mods done and then have it tuned to leverage the best results from your mods.

Hmm how would it make gas milage suffer if that's the case then idk

Gas mileage will suffer a bit since the engine is running cooler. Why do you want a new thermostat anyway?

I'm considering doing that in order to gain more mpg and horsepower. I don't plan on doing any major mods unless they consist on helping me gain atleast more mpg. If you know a few mods in that department I'd appreciate it if you put a few down so that I may research:thumbsup:

I heard that its good for the engine. Theres nothing wrong with it right now. But after hearing that it would decrease mpg I'm not to sure now

Its better for power not MPG. I put a 180 in my daily driver GTP and took it out a week later because of the noticeable difference in gas mileage.
