Possible Wiring Delima

Hi everyone, I had a friend ask me about a trouble she is having with her 04 monte. Periodically her speedometer doesn't work, and when she clicks her high beams on the car seems to die and nothing else electrical wants to work, but...resolves itself as soon as you turn the high beams off. The only upgrade of any kind to the car is an aftermarket remote starter that was put in by a reputable dealer.
Is this a problem that anyone else has dealt with and could lead me/her in the right direction towards resolving the problem?

My first initial reaction is that there is something wrong with the remote start and have advised her to go back to the dealer, as I know they will re flash the system (whatever you call it lol) or check the brain and the wiring for free and hopefully that is the cause but wanted to see if there may be another possible cause

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the problem developed right after the remote start was installed it could just be coincidence, but chances are the install was not done properly.

yes it started after the install of the remote starter, so I agree it is more than likely the remote starter being installed incorrectly. I just wanted to see if there may be another problem that occurs with these cars that I might be overlooking.

Thanks for the reply :)
