Passenger side tail light loose

Just came back in from washing my car. While I was washing the car off I noticed the passenger side tail light is loose. So I got the owners manual out and opened up the trunk. I unscrewed the top wing nut, pulled the carpet back, and unscrewed the two bottom hex nuts. I then pulled the tail light assembly away and noticed the top wing nut is broken in half.

Basically it doesn't come through the other side so the top part of the tail light assembly isn't screwed into this wing nut.

Anyone know where I get a wing nut for Monte Carlo tail lights? Or should I just contact the dealer? I can do it myself I just need the part.

I would check your local salvage/junkyard for it.

Thanks! I couldn't remember the website so I'll add this to my favorites. It appears it's part #2 that I need. I'll have to take the tail light out again to double check.

since you recently purchased the car, I would just take it back where you bought and have them order the part for you....

97-03 grand pee and 97-04 buick regal use the same thread pattern wing nut as the monte. yes i would check at the yard. i have some laying around some where. i'll send it to you when i find it. i just move so might take me time to find them.

I'll post a pic of it tomorrow when I get off work and it's day light. The thread/screw that comes through the trunk into the tailight assembly and screws into the tail light keeping the tail light snug against the body is what is broken in half.

Here are a couple of pics. I've taken away the tail light assembly so you can see the broken part. The thread is supposed to stick out both ends, one end connects to the body the other side connects to the tail light.
