I know the codes stand for egr valve and solenoid, but does this mean the solenoid is measuring bad flow or the solenoid may be bad? Can someone educate me on the egr valve of these cars? How to test/ clean the things that cause this code to fly?

My car intermittently throwws the codes, sometimes the cel will go out for a couple of days and come back on.

Id like to just learn how to bypass it if at all possible. I know on my old car it was vacuum controlled and I just blocked off the hose and the cel never came on. I eventually put a block off plate on and forgot all about it. Is there anything like that to be done to this car?

Thanks for the help guys  :D

After MUCH research, I have foiund that if you want, you could weld the pipes for the EGR shut and program it out of the computer.

Thats to delete it.

to clean it, you can simply spray OODLES of carb cleaner in the piping for it and bath it in carb cleaner, take a pipe cleaner and scrape it out. (being careful not to get any on the electrical connector)

after about 45 mins of doing so, its golden.

If you had access to a tuner, you wouldn't even need to weld anything to keep the EGR valve shut. You could just set it to never open basically. Doing this, or deleting the code reporting is illegal in most places though (as is welding the EGR shut, running blockoff plates, etc).

Sorry augi, missed this thread. I'm glad to see though that you found the answers you needed. If you don't want to weld anything or fab your own block off plate, you can get the plates from ZZP here: http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=229&catid=110

Alright... I know I said I figured out how to block off the valve, but how would you go about cleaning it? I currently don't have cash to purchase a tuner and would like the cel to go away... help?
