That ol' oil life sensor...

I'm wondering what actually triggers the 'change engine oil' light on my 2000 SS.

Hours the engine is run?
Miles driven?
Calender time elapsed?
Decreased filter efficiency from particles within?
Breakdown of oil compounds by use?

Hmmmm...

Its actually little keebler elves.:D:D

Honestly. The computer reads how you are driving, the hours you are driving, how hard, etc... then calculates when its time to change the oil. I let the car tell me when its time.

Or is it when the hamster running in the ball gets tired?
XD

LOL...

I was told by the service advisor at the chevy dealer that it measures by driving style (by RPM) how constant are RPM's, idle time, number of starts...

I never see that light haha. Every 3000 I change the oil, and reset the light.
