oil pressure sender

87 LS, swapping from stock 305 to 67' 327. found out he PO removed and plugged the oil pressure sender by the filter ( after installing the 327 & finding it does not have a removable plug to add a sender ). what is the difference between the "oil pres" & "oil pressure sw". can i splice the lead from the "oil press sw" into the tan wire at the "oil press" and have the gauge work, or are the 1&2 pin sensor/senders different? the diagram shows they both go back to the gauge, ( which i tested by grounding the plug to confirm it works )
