Need advise on front struts

I replaced the front struts yesterday on my 97 LS. Bought the replacement struts and removal tool through Amazon. It is "clunky" as hell now and worse than when I started. Can someone who has done this tell me what I am missing?

Wow more details?

Assuming that you installed the new ones just like the old ones.

It would most likely be the struts.

I believe when you replace these you can use the existing springs.

the new units would most likely not have springs included?

If this is the case the existing springs may have to much wear on them and need to be replaced as well.
Other wise the struts could be just that cheap? not sure what brand they are?

You can check Rock Auto once and see what they have for a comparison unit.

Thanks for your response. On my MC and other W body cars, the cartridges are removed from the top with a removal tool and the replacements drop in. This You Tube video explains it better than I can.

The stock cartridges are open at the bottom and are filled with oil. The replacements are gas and are sealed at the bottom. The only thing different that I can see is my car did not have the cartridge isolator bushing. My next move, I think, is to add them to my struts.

Okay I see.... I replaced the entire unit, wheel off and compress the spring and all that stuff.
