low tire pressure
yes that is correct, it would set the light if you had different size tires as well. it uses your abs sensors to tell if one tire is low, or freewheeling at a differen rpm than any tire that is its direct opposit in rpm.

i just came back from my first trip in my new 05 monte, i went from owensboro,ky to daytona
beach,fl, about 25 miles into fl,my low tire pressure light came on, i pulled off to the side of the road, tires looked normal, but i gaged them anyway, all 4 tires had exactly 35lb's psi . to me
there was no reason for that light to come on, i will be due for my first oil change in about 300 miles now after the trip i will request this system to be checked for a faulty sensor.
put your key into the ignition Turn key to the on position but do not start the car.
Then pull the headlight switch out one Click puch back in one click. pull out one click, push in. pull out one click, push in. (total of 3 times) and the light should go away.
It will make a chime sound if you do it right.
has worked on mine every winter and spring when i swap out the winter rims with the summer rims.

As usual Chevy_jj, I would quote you on this one....
I've read the same as you have outlined. From what I have learned of the LTPS I don't think there is a sensor per say in the tire but I think it monitors rotation speeds of the tires. Chevy, do you know of the mechanics of the low tire pressure feature?

I recently put new struts on the back of my 2000 Monte Carlo SS their was aprroximately a 1-1/2 in increase in height within 10 minutes of driving the low tire press warning came on. All tires were within 1-2 #s of each other .I have reset the message and have not had the message reappear yet.
For the low tire pressure monitor, turn the key to the ON position (don't start engine) then turn your parking lights on/off 3 times in a row.
