I know it doesn't sound great, but if the car runs well, keep an eye on your fluids, change the coolant sensor and most importantly: don't worry about it!. I can assure you most people's engines leak (or at least seep) a little oil. The power steering is a little concerning since the system doesn't hold a lot of fluid and can run dry easy so watch it closely. My 98 Regal (also a w-body) has had an audible intake leak (vaccuum) since I got it 2 years ago and it idles horribly, but it passes emissions and has never stalled. I think it actually gets be mileage because of it. I'm sure it leak all sorts of things but it has proved to be a very reliable car - I wouldn't hesitate to take it accross the country.

Oh yeah, and don't park on anybodies freshly paved concrete laneway

My parents have a beautiful white concrete driveway, and I park on it all the time. I have yet to see any oil leaks on it from my car. That just means that the stuff is splattering off and burning up before it hits the ground, I guess.

But the oil pan is definitely leaking. It's crusted and dirty around the seals, the oil pan itself is covered in a dirty coat of oil, and I took it through a car wash with undercarriage spray just last week.

I'll have the most important stuff that needs to be done at once fixed as soon as I'm able, and the other stuff can wait for when I can afford it.

At one point today, I was so frustrated I was - actually - in tears. I considered just writing it off, taking a loss, and trading it in on something else...but there's no guarantees that I wouldn't end up with something else that has just as many problems, and I doubt I'd end up with something I liked as much.

So I'm going to keep her, and get stuff done as I can.

Well, I finally got her tagged at least. She passed emissions.

Now to schedule the other things piece by piece.

dana just to clear it up a little bit a 3800 series II engine is one of the best engines ever to be built and not just by gm but as a global scale of any manufacturer. head gaskets are NOT common failure on these engines and intake gaskets can be. i'm not sure of where your from but do they not have a safety inspection performed at the time of sale? some of those things would be covered in that inspection and should not have passed like the p/s hose and cv boot leaking. sounds like that dealer you went to is a scam artist and took advantage of you.
