Lost power and died

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo LS 3.4L. Water pump went out replaced it than a week later i was driving and it started losing power. I let off accelerated and she died. Didn't make any noise just shut down. I tried starting will crank but acts like no fire. One person said timing chain others head gasket? Could I get some opinions on it before I start tearing her down?

A head gasket would make sense if the engine overheated due to the failed water pump but you would need to check your compressions. Have you checked your oil & radiator levels to see if coolant is in the oil?

I had my MAF sensor go bad and it just lost power and died, twice. But it restarted each time and made the 2 miles to the dealer for that week's paycheck..

Is your Check light on? Do you read any codes? How many miles? Hopefully, someone else will weigh in on the best way to test for fire. Of course, check your fuses first.
