Light problem on '03 Monte

My mom's Monte has a bad electrical problem, with the headlights. It started after she went to start it, and it was dead. I gave it a jump from my grandma's car, then we got a new battery when we got home...70 mile trip! Nerve racking!

Anywho...during the day, the daytime running lights turn completely OFF for 15 seconds. Then click back ON for 30 seconds. Every time. But, at night they are fine, and work they way they should - no flickering.

Tried a new light sensor in the dash...no go.

Any ideas?

Change the drl relay. Swap it with the horn relay to see if the lights stay good then buy a relay and change it permanently if they work fine after.

Thanks. Anybody else have any more thoughts?

These cars do not like to be jump started

My guess is you fried the BCM and it will need to be replaced

Got a new BCM. Now just waiting to try to buy a Tech II scanner at a decent price on eBay. She absolutely REFUSES to take her car ANYWHERE to get it installed and/or programmed...

So you are going to spend more than $1000 on a tool to install a BCM rather than pay a dealer $100 or so to program it for you?

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

I hope you bought a new BCM and not a used one.. Used BCMs cannot be reprogrammed

I ain't paying for the tool. My dad's getting it. Not going to spend $1000. He wants to find one around $500-$600.

Trust me...I know it doesn't make sense. But she will NOT take her car ANYWHERE for ANYTHING. The BCM is re-manufactured with a lifetime warranty.

OKAY. A friend of my uncle's works for a Buick dealer, and he can have a new BCM put in and programmed for nothing. Returned this one & no more hassling to try to get a Tech II.
