keyless entry
I want to know if anyone else had this issue.
I have a 2004 monte carlo ss i took it into the delear monday nite because the window all of sudden fell down inside the door. They kept the car till Tuesday nite to fix the regulator that broke. I got the car back and the key fob wouldnt work. I thought was batteries so today i went and got new battery for the fob. it still didnt work. I read in the book how to reset the fob, tried that but couldnt see any results. I took it to the dealer and told them it worked monday when i had it but tues it doesnt work, maybe ther tech did something when hd the door tore apart. he test the remote and worked fine on their machine. took computer to the car, shows it is programmed. He said to bring it in next week for further diagnostics at my cost because they couldnt have done anything. said mite need new box/antenna system. I feel they should replace at their cost cuz it broke while in their care? Did anyone else have issues with the keyless entry quitting working and how to go back to the dealer? |
i havent had that issue but i think they should be paying for that, the hardest thing would be to prove to them that it was working before you dropped the car off. good luck!

the antenna dock should be located in the piller in the front on the drivers side, you could take off the panel covering it and see if anything was tampered with. and if you take it anywhere, go to a different mechanic who gets payed hourly, small shop, and ask them to check if it looks tampered with also. if it does, have them write it up and take it to the original dealer and have them reimburst your cost

before you get too busy trying to prove it was them that messed it up i fix the key fobs for people all the time. first off do you have a second remote? and does it work with the car? and open the remote back up again and check the 3 solder points on the battery holder, if any are loose or broken off this will likely be the only thing thats wrong. i've fixed dozens of these remotes for the same problem. you just need to use a soldering iron and redo the 3 spots.
hope this helps you |
