Installing Air/Fueling Gauge On 78 MC
 

[:@]Hey guys I was wondering first is it possible to install an Air/Fuel Gauge on my Monte??? I was told that 02 sensers might not be on my car... I didnt check b/c I'm @ work right now... But if so Can anyone point me in the right direction for me to get it hooked up as far as the wires getting connected...

Hmm, hard to say, sorry you didn't get an answer quicker. I would say just get one that comes with a wide band O2 sensor... they'll be much more accurate than the stockers. If you even have stockers. For a 78, if you do have em stock, they're probably about ready to be replaced anyways.

I'm highly doubting that you have any type of 02 sensor, due to the fact that you just mentioned that you have a 600cfm Edelbrock Carb on it. You'll need to find an accessible location on your exhuast to drill a hold and weld in an 02 sensor bung. Since you're running headers, I'm also guessing that you're running dual exhaust. For tuning purposes, I would think it would be ideal to have two sensors, one in each collector on your headers, so that you can tune each bank seperately on your carb. If you're stuck on going with one sensor, you'll have to have some type of crossover pipe installed to get accurate readings from a mix of exhaust from both banks.

yea i have dual exhuast...so i guess i will be drilling then.. thanks guys

Well, you will be drilling, as long as you are drilling into an area that is a "common" area for both cylinder banks. If you have duals with a crossover (X-pipe, H-Pipe) you'll want to install it there. If not, you'll be getting reading from only one bank of cylinders, which doesn't really help you too much with tuning at all. Even adjusting both mixture screws identically doesn't mean that ports are matched exactly, gaskets are identical and other chamber conditions are mirrored on the other side. Therefore, if you have a crossover of some sort, put it there, or else you really should have two sensors.
