hey, welcome to the site :)

best and most cost efficient way for horsepower right off the bat would be

[ol][*]high flow cat[*]u-bend delete[*]get rid of resonator[*]3"downpipe[/ol]search around the forum on u-bend delete and you will find lots of info...you will probably gain about 10hp out of this..or close to anyway

Would a 2.5" downpipe be better?

what size is it stock?? i thought it was 2.5 stock...

the downpipe isn't really that nessesary

steps 1-3 do the most :)

i would say 2.5 because the stock one says it is 2.5 but it is no where close to that also it is ribbed on the inside of it and not smooth at all.

also i think the 3" one would not have enough back presure so you would lose a lot of torque

Your right on the money with this. DigPhoenix took me to task on this one awhile ago. :) The 3" downpipe is for Supercharged or other Forced Air vehicles. 2.5 for NA.

Also a really good upgrade is just droping in a K&N drop in filter. I would recommend a CAI or FWI.

you take your car into an exhaust shop...

the u-bend is a part between the cat convertor and the resonator where the exhaust does a "u" for the o2 sensor and is very restrictive on the exhaust flow...most exhaust shops will know what your talking about

Ok that is great thanks... another question/problem i have been looking for exhaust parts but all i can come up with is the stuff for the 3.8L and not the 3.4L do the interchange?
