"Gen" Light 1975 Monte Carlo

My 1975 Monte Carlo has the Gen Light on. I replaced the alternator and the light was still present. I am taking the old alternator into the store to see if it was even actually bad. From what I have read the regulator is internal to the alternator, so if it was the regulator that would have been replaced...but the guy at the Autoparts store still offered to order me a separate regulator?(...lol?) Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Also the light stays off unless AC or heater components are turned on. My AC pump(not sure of terminology) is under the hood but not hooked up. My AC does not work but the heater did still.

GOD BLESS STAY IN PRAYER

The old alternator was bad and the new one was running full power, a wire in the back was disconnected so I need to repair that because it may be the cause.

Repaired two wires and light is still on.
