Fuel Line Question
Greetings all,
My fuel pump went out on my '98 MC so out came the fuel tank and in went the boneyard unit. When I went to hook up the fuel line, it would not expand enough to push on to the ****** stubs on the pump. So I cut short peices of rubber gas line and hose clamped them in place. All three were like this. Car ran fine. 24 hours later, gas sprays all over top of tank. I suspect one let loose. The fuel lines that go to the pump look like they were heat shrunk in place and there were no clamps holding them. I tried to heat and then push them on but the line would collaps. The factory line is a thin metal tube with a plastic casing that I am told has a minimum of 50 psi going through it. The local dealer was no help, even their mechanic I spoke to. He kept insisting that clamps are needed but didn't know how to get it on the stubs. Had the boneyard left the lines in place, I wouldn't be having these troubles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Brian |
