This Damn car
 

I got my 06 SS with only 9k miles on it in perfect condition with a carfax report. That was 15 months ago. last month I tried to get the safety inspection and they told me I needed over $1000 of work done to my car before it could pass inspection. I couldn't believe it! at this point in time I was beyond my 36,000 mile warranty. Lucky for me at 40,000 miles I still have an extended warranty until 100,000 miles that covered the work. But why does this car keep breaking down on me. In 15 months its been in the shop atleast 7 times for stuff.

This time it was a bad tire rod, steering intermidiate shaft and front wheel bearing. All these got replaced the other day for free, but it is a hassle having to keep your new car in the shop so often.

Has anyone else had problems with their 06 or 07's?

The ISS is a standard problem. But the tie rod ends and the wheel bearings are an indication of the car being driven too hard, ie, hammering railroad tracks, bad roads too fast, chuck holes, etc. Rail road tracks are a HUGE problem with the entire suspension, especially if you have oversized wheels. The old 15" tires took them better, but these newer cars with 17 and 18" wheels, you MUST crawl over the tracks, avoid rough roads and chuck holes. The results are what you are seeing here. These are not trucks, and they do not stand up to abuse well.

I'll bet your wheels haven't had the lug nuts hand torqued to 100 lbs, either. The result will be warped brake rotors, and a shimmy in the steering wheel when you apply the brakes. You got that yet?

well often when puttin on tires torque sticks are used instead of torque wrenches and are not as accurate as hand torquing but are still quite accurate and warped rotors are also caused by hot rotors being splashed with water

haven't checked the rotors yet but there is vibration when I apply the breaks at higher speeds. My lug nuts were tightened with my own hands two weeks ago, but before that is was done by machine.

I have the origional 18 inch wheels on the car.

its only at high speeds? and did it do it before u tightened the lug nuts urself

It has been doing that about 3 months now and still does it. I tightened the lug nuts myself last week for the 1st time.

then u most likely have warped rotors but it irs only at high speeds then its not too bad
