Cluster Lighting

Hello,
On a 2002 Monte the cluster lights will go out everytime the daylight sensor turns on the headlights. Has anyone had this problem before. Any information would help greatly.
Thank you,
Brent

Yep, tried that. I'm thinking since it only does it when it is dark enough for the daylight sensor to turn the lights on that maybe there is a bad relay or a bad daylight sensor? But I have no idea.

Same thing from the other thread:

Had the exact problem and fixed it. Theres a loose wire in behind your dimmer/light switch. Take off your dash (which is a lot easier than you think its like 5 screws and 3 clips, you might have to move your steering column around) and then theres 2 or 3 screws holding in the switch. Take em off and unplug the wire harness. Youll probably notice it right away. It might even have melted the plastic around it a little too. If you can resecure it somehow it great, however if you cant youll need a new one. Brand new from somewhere like autozone its about $130. However if you have access to a junkyard you can get it for much less. Ive noticed a lot of monte carlos have this problem for some reason.

here ya go gmcman101 and anyone else who has had this problem. I took everything apart and got my old one out so you could see what Im talking about. This is what causes the dash lights to go out at night but be on in the daytime.

STEP 1 : Take apart the dash to get to the dimmer switch, take the dimmer switch off. (All together, 6 screws)

STEP 2: Unhook the wire harness and look at the connectors, there is most likely a burnt connector as you see here in the top left. Theres your problem
