can't find the flasher in a 1999 Z34
 

I bought a '99 Monte Carlo Z34 last week that sat mostly unused the last 2 years. I have a number weird electrical issues with the most important being a non-working turn signal. I'm trying to find the flasher, but thus far I had no success. I searched, looked at some youtube videos, but to no avail. It's supposed to be either around the steering column or on the firewall, but I can't see anything remotely resembling a flasher.

I have the Factory manuals for this car so let me look thru them and I will see what I can come up with.

If the turn signals do not work, the culprit is likely the Multifunction Switch. You have to take apart the steering wheel to replace it IIRC.

I understand that is the other possibility, but before I go down that road, I want to make certain that it is not the flasher which should be much cheaper and much easier to replace. (provided, I can find it)

BTW, I forgot to mention, but the fuse is good.

Well, the flasher relay (the "clicker box") is an inch-by-inch cube with three silver prongs on one end, and is located somewhere around the brake pedal's hinge.
If the turnsignals aren't making any clicking noise, the relay's a prime suspect.

Don't be surprised if it does end up being the multifunction switch, they are notorious for failing. Not too expensive though, if you have the tools to do it yourself.

Thanks, I found it a few hours ago -- on my car it is not visible at all and it's behind not one but two wire harnesses!

When I tested last week and over the weekend, neither my turn signal nor my emergency flasher worked. While driving to work this morning, my emergency flasher started to work, so I ended up locating it by sound, but it still took me a long time since it is not visible and I had to pinpoint its exact location by touch.

But the fact that the flasher works, seem to point toward the multifunction switch, though I still want to probe the connector just to make sure it is not a bad connection.
