Can you change door chime on 06 MC?

Question Can you change door chime on 06 MC?

I think the door chime on my '06 MC is too loud and annoying. Does anyone have any advice or experience in finding a replacement?

That's a good question. I'm kinda curious myself if anyone has done it.

If it's like the 6th gen (2000-2005) Monte's, the sound is programmed into the car and comes through the car's sound system.

Being programmed into the car's computer, it would probably take someone with programming skills. But I'd be interested to know, if someone did it, how they did it also.

First, Welcome to our Monte Carlo Family...Tell us about your Monte ?
model/color/pic's : ) ?
.. I think it's a module that can be removed Hopefully one of our Expert Tech's will know if it can be replaced with a softer sounding chime.
I believe you can remove your module, but there would be no sound.
Check back on your thread question to see `if any member responds.
Until then, maybe earplugs (j/k)

I used to have no driver side speaker when I bought the car, i thought i just didnt have a chime. Then I put in a new speaker and there it was. So annoying.

What do you do that the chime interferes?

To me, having the chime is a great security feature. It always tells me if I forget something.

It would be nice if you could change the chime to, "Shut the dam door, shut the dam door." Id try to program that if possible.

The chime actually has saved me many times when I left the headlights on.

Mine should say, "turn off your dam lights dumb-***!"

If you go to an aftermarket radio, you will need to install a speaker under the dash for the chimes. Then they will work different, and sound different.
As for changing out the chime itself, no. It's part of the stereo deck.
