can i get through a day without any msgs, engine light or warning issues

ok, since i've had my monte for almost 2 months now and it seems like i can't get through a day without a message about check traction control system, engine light or a tire low light / message etc.

engine light was on, ok it seemed to only be the gas cap not properly tightened, no big deal

traction control message, one of the sensors in the right tire was bad, finally got replaced yesteday at no cost (cool) at the dealer.

dead battery, replaced after being towed to the dealer and new battery replaced at no cost, again (cool)

twice the tire pressure was low in 2 different wheels, fixed for 75 cents for air at the local gas station, no big deal again (cool) but holy hell air for 75 cents, it used to be free way back when!!!

also i spent about $100 bucks for code scanner, i was tired of having to borrow one from a friend work after my chrylser sebring issues, before i bought my monte carlo.

ok, btw the way, i'm sure someone will add to this about the seatbelt warning chime/light but i always wear my seatbelt, thanks for listening

Chris,

My 3.5L has been pretty good all and all....I have 72K, and recently (just after 65K) I've needed a new water pump and new power steering pump. And the t-stat went bad at 40K...everything under warrenty (I have the GMPP extened warrenty to 100K)! I'm hoping everything that wants to go wrong with my car goes wrong before 100K. LOL

And what about the seat belt warning light? Another problem I had with mine....when it was brand new (under 2K) the dealer had to replace the entire airbag sending unit/ computer because my seat belt light would stay on sometimes even when I had my seat belt on...or the airbag light would come on and stay on...So after two trips to the dealer, they replaced everything, and its been trouble free since!

Take care of it, and I think it will be a reliable car...Just DO NOT trust the Dexcool coolant for 100K like the owners manual says...Change it every 30-50K just like regualr coolant...(straight from the mouth of the service tech at my Chevy dealer) and no he is not trying to get me to spend more money over there, because he knows I do all my own maintenance...I just asked him about the Dexcool, because I know from experience with my moms Bonneville that it CAN become corrosive and eat away intake or head gaskets...And he told me yes it can, an I do not recommend using it for 100K...he said 50K is ok, but not 100.

x2 on the dexcool being changed at most 50k

It can build up a gunky look, so it's good to keep on it. and NEVER mix green and dexcool lol
