95 Z-34 Wont Rev over 3k When Driving
:) Hey guys sorry to have to keep posting like this, seems to be nothing but troubles lately, i just changed the tps in my 95 z-34, the check engine light came on after which i thought was no big deal, i would just co get it checked out and probably have to un-plug the battery for a bit, however now when i go driving the car wont rev over 3000 rpm, i didnt really notice untill some punk in a mr2 tried to pass me and i was powerless to stop him :( ITs weird it will still rev up to the limiter when in park (4500rpm) but not when driving, im gonna go check the code out tonight just wondering if you guys have any thoughts on it, Thanks!!!

Is your TPS the adjustable type? If it is you have to hook up a voltmeter and adjust it to a certain voltage.

Are the mounting screws straight in or are there oblong slots.

Most auto parts stores that do the free code checks are setup for OBII computers. Your 95 should be OBI as OBII started in 1996 and thats probably why it didn't work. You didn't say you had this problem in a previous post so it must be related to something you did when installing the TPS. I still stand by my previous posts of some sort of vacuum leak due to the whining sound you had described.

correction 95 is an obd 1.5 sound odd yes but it is. and no the auto parts store probably wont have a scanner for 1 or 1.5 just 2.
just swing it by a dealer if there is a SES light. then you can know what it is. shouldnt be mroe the $60 for the scan. i would deff check your vac lines to yoru trany...there is a shift solonoid that works off vaccum. i never heard of an adjustable TPS. if the problems started with the swap of your TPS then i would say that the new TPS might be bad. |
