95 monte alternator

I have a 95 montez34 with the 3.4 and my alternator is going bad. It wont charge the battery at idle anymoreonly above 3000 rpmi did a volt test on it. My question is i read the repair manual and it says i have to lower the engine out of the car to change the alternator. Is this the only way to do this? Seems like a awful lot of work for a alternator.

yup, ya have to drop the engine cradle to get it out. Ya don't have to take it all the way out but it needs to drop 4-5 inches if I remember corectly

Ok thanks. How difficult is it to drop the engine cradle that much?

put the car up on jack stands under the body seams not the subframe. Then get a floor jack under the back of the subframe and loosen the front bolts up and drop the back bolts out(an impact gun is highly recomended). The rear should tilt down far enough to get the alt out. If you happen to pull all four bolts it can be a PITA to line back up but overall this isn't to hard of a job to do
