'86 SS repower...eliminate/bypass ecm stuff...remove egr stuff????

hi guys...new to the forum....just puked the motor in my '86 monte ss..
spun a bearing...been wanting to repower for a while with something like a zz4.....would like to get rid of the egr crap and electronics....is this feasible?? no pollution testing down here in the fla keys....air is always fresh....want to simplify under the hood....there is beauty in simplicity...
get rid of the quadrajet (it's 20 years old) go basic, holley or edelbrock...something like that....any advise?? what do i need to do??
thanks in advance for your ideas

RE: '86 SS repower...eliminate/bypass ecm stuff...remove egr stuff????

you can take out the ecu with all the wireing out no problem
take out all emmisions stuff too
you will have to run a older q-jet or eddy, holley and a vacumm advance diss. and if you are runing a overdrive trans you will need to get a kit to lock it up or go with a non-lock up torque
and in short that is it
