Default 2006 monte ss problems

Hi, just purchased my first monte carlo ss. Got a really good deal on it, has 21000 miles, red, fully loaded, every option except the boss stereo, $16,100, clean car fax. Anyways i purchased it a month ago, from a very reputable chevy dealership here in nw ohio. The second day I had it, the service tire monitoring message comes across the dash every time i turn it on. also friday night, i was heading home from detroit, and the emissions light came on and flashed a few times, then it went off for a minute or 2, and it did this a few times. well i was on the expressway and it was still running fine, so i started heading towards the dealership, which is right off the expressway. when i got off the e-way at a stop light, i took off from the stop light and it would barely accelerate, got it to the dealership, and it was smelling funny. left it there, waited for a ride home. i called the dealership saturday morning and talked to the manager, told him what happened. i told him that the warranty the dealer gave me better cover this, becuase i have only had it for 32 days, and only put 1000 miles on it. he gave me a bunch of attitude, and told me that the mechanics would get to it first thing monday morning. i asked him how i was supposed to get to work monday, and he told me thats not his problem. so i am seriously pissed, and when i go in there monday i am going to rip him. anyways anybody have any idea what could be wrong with the car? i am sure the dealership will fix it, just makes me mad, and curious what happened. i have a 2004 silverado that i bought new, and have 91000 miles on it, been a extremely good truck, and i beat the hell out of it. had 2700 lbs of copper in the bed one time. hauled a big trencher with it, and its only a half ton with a v6. just had front brakes put on it at 90000 miles, rears never been changed yet, just got first tune up also. as you can see i am a big chevy guy. thanks

Hi `Jake, and Welcome to our Monte Carlo Family.
Sorry to read that you have a few issues, but I'm sure
that your dealership will be able to repair them.
You got a super decent deal with that low of miles.
Explore the forum & use our search engine for subjects of
interest, or on the problems that you have encountered.

Also check back to see what our expert member's that own a
06/07 SS have to post about your problems.
Did you get any type of warranty with your SS ?
Hope so 4-Sure.
We have several member's from the Buckeye State,
and I hope you get to know them.
Looking forward also to seeing pictures of your Monte.

I've learned that one gets better results at dealership without
jump'in on them. "Get more with Honey, then salt" Sometimes..

Sure hope when they do a scam that they can trace the error,
and get you back on the road in your AweSome Chevrolet
Monte Carlo SS...
Keep us updated, and check back on your questions.
It's Sunday, and many member's are out driving & enjoying
their Monte's Check back often.
Good Luck

there was a tbs for the tire sensor deal so that should be fixed for free and any of the other stuff as well. if he starts talking **** just call gms customer service. just a heads up i deal with costumers alot and i dont like when people come in telling me things better be done. im sure you were having a bad day and all but no one wants to help someone that comes in like that. oh and if your under warranty and the dealers keeping the car they should give you a loaner or a rental. at least thats what my dealer does with my warranty. anyway good luck.

I bought my 07 ss with 30k on it...its been about a year and 1/2 and i have 71k on it...0 problems...I hope whatever problems your car may have are minimal and that your dealer does good on the warranty...and Monteman a loaner car would be in the details of the warranty...if its not included you may still be able to get one if your a smooth talker...best of luck jake

When my ECM got screwed up in my 06 Monte (mines a 3500 V6 though) the engine light was flashing (as a misfire) and the car had NO power, it felt like it dropped half its cyliners. Maybe your ECM is fried?

I hope they work this out for you. I always got rentals free of charge form my dealer when I was under warranty. It all depends on the terms of your warranty contract.

Well I got it back today, was fixed for free. They said they had to re-learn the tire information. Also the #6 cylinder wasnt firing, they said the spark plug had a piece of carbon on it, and they cleaned it off, and its runs good again. So thats a relief. thanks

Next time your Monte throws a Code and the Engine Light comes on; don't get so out of joint.
Pull-into an AutoZone. Have one of the counter folks grab the OBD-2 Code Reader and find-out what the Code is.
Then, proceed back inside and have them print-out the Code Sheet and what to investigate.

Nobody in the Automobile Service Industry likes to do business with a Hot-Head.
You get more respect and cooperation if you remain in control of yourself.
You'll learn about the Dealerships Shuttle Service.
Be escorted to the Executives Waiting room and find Coffee and treats.

As soon as you blow your safeties the whole situation deteriorates into a vicious circle fueled by anger and resentment.
