Monte Carlo Forum - Monte Carlo Enthusiast Forums - 2004 Monter Carlo SS Stuck RPM's

I have a 2004 monte carlo SS. It sometimes seems sluggish when i need the power. i step on the gas and it goes past 25mph no problem but when it shifts into gear around 40mph the RPM's are going up as i increase speed and then it drops to 2200 rpms and seems stuck until i realease the gas pedal and press it again. it almost seems as if i am flooding the enging with to much gas or air. Is it my K&N INTAKE or what. the rpms get stuck at 2200 as my speed slowly increases i let go of gas pedal and the gauge cluster adjusts it back to a higher RPM? It almost seems like i have to pump my gas pedal to drive the car
