Default 1997 Monte Z34 3.4l Problems

I am new to this forum and plan to be a member for a long time. So far i have just skimmed over the site and like the threads and knowledge on here. So this is my problem......My car has 150k miles on it and when i am going about 60 and try to catch speed all that happens is the car revs but does not accelerate. Especially when i am on an incline on the highway etc. it drops speed instead of gain speed. So i took it to the autoparts store and had them check the codes etc. with there computer. They came back to say something along the lines of the 02 sensor is bad, as well as something having to do with my plugs/wire/and coil, as well as something having to do with gas maybe my cap not being tight enough, lastly she said a Factory Maf problem and i would have to go to the dealership for that. My main question is what would the problem be with my maf to have to go to the dealership>? i figured the maf is probably what is making the car run like crap. I plan to change the 02 sensor and plugs and wires this weekend. Any input is greatly appreciated. I know this is a lot lol. Thanks.

If the MAF popped a code, go there first. You don't need to go to the dealer for that. Any shop that has a wave form viewer, ie Snap on Vantage. They can actually see the MAF working. If there is ANY drop out on the MAF scale it is bad. The MAF can make the o2's go nuts among alot of other stuff, get it checked first. Good luck, and dont be afraid to ask.

You can not clean a MAF sensor. EVER!!!! At best you can very lightly wipe the wire with a clean lint free cloth. That very seldom works, when they go bad, they are gone.
